Lenten Resources

Lent is a 40-day season of self-examination and repentance, prayer, fasting, and self-denial observed in preparation for the passion and resurrection of our Lord. Lent begins on Ash Wednesday—February 26 this year—and concludes with our Easter celebrations on April 11 and 12.

Life Transformed - The Way of Love in Lent

The journey through Lent into Easter is a journey with Jesus. We are baptized into his life, self-giving, and death; then, we rise in hope to life transformed. This Lent, communities are invited to walk with Jesus in his Way of Love and into the experience of transformed life. Together, we will reflect anew on the loving actions of God as recounted in the Easter Vigil readings. Together, we will walk through the depths of salvation history into the fullness of redemption.

Join the Rev. Dr. Hillary Raining, rector of St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church in Gladwyne, Penn., as she introduces weekly lessons from Life Transformed: The Way of Love in Lent. These eight videos- one for each of the Life Transformed sessions and an introduction - can be used with your congregation, as part of a small group, or for individual learning and meditation.

Life Transformed - The Way of Love Quiet Day for Lent

This Quiet Day for Lent curriculum ties the Easter Vigil readings to the seven practices of the Way of Love. Suitable for use at a day-long retreat, this curriculum condenses and adapts the seven-session curriculum above into four 75-minute blocks. Included in this resource are excerpts from Scripture and a participant guide.

United Thank Offering (UTO) Lenten Devotional Calendar

The United Thank Offering invites all Episcopalians to notice the good things that happen each day, give thanks to God for your blessings, and make an offering for each blessing. Through UTO, your blessings become blessings to others.

d365: Daily Devotions

Episcopal Relief and Development’s Lenten Meditations

Tied to the ONE THOUSAND DAYS OF LOVE campaign, this booklet encourages readers to actively seek the holy every day during Lent by reflecting on God’s call, their own lives and how they can live out their Baptismal Covenant by healing a hurting world.

Living Compass: Living Well Through Lent

Living the Way of Love: A 40-Day Devotional

Living the Way of Love offers forty brief reflections about the seven Jesus-centered practices identified by Presiding Bishop Michael Curry in "The Way of Love" initiative. Sullivan tells stories from her own and others' experiences as a starting point for discussion about how to seek and find a deeper connection to God. Rotating through each practice so that each is covered once a week, going deeper into the practice throughout the forty days, each reflection ends with questions designed to spur further discussion and assist readers in making the practices their own. Perfect for using as a Lenten devotional or at any time of the year, the book includes a guide for creating a personal rule of life, and a downloadable Facilitator's Guide.

#LiveLent: Care for God’s Creation

#LiveLent: Care for God’s Creation is the Church of England's Lent Campaign for 2020. With weekly themes shaped around the first Genesis account of creation, it explores the urgent need for humans to value and protect the abundance God has created. This year’s #LiveLent challenge offers 40 short reflections and suggested actions to help you, your family and your church live in greater harmony with God, neighbour and nature.

It has been inspired and informed by the Archbishop of Canterbury's 2020 Lent Book, Saying Yes to Life by Ruth Valerio (SPCK).
