Continuing Education Grants

Continuing Education Grants are awarded by the Continuing Education Subcommittee of the Commission on Ministry. Apply for the 2026 Continuing Education Grant here.

  • Applicants may be either a clergy member or a parishioner who attends church regularly at a faith community within the Episcopal Diocese of Indiana.

  • Applicants must be a minimum of 18 years of age.

  • Applicants must state the amount of the request and specify the reason for the request.

  • To maximize the use of the grant funds, as well as provide grant awards to as many requesters as possible, the maximum award is set at $1,000.

  • The application deadline is May 31 of each year.

  • All requests must be made in writing (electronic or handwritten) and submitted to the Missioner for Special Projects, Joe Anand-Obleton, who will then forward them to the Commission on Ministry Grant Committee Chairperson.

  • All requests are forwarded by the Grant Committee Chairperson to members of the Grant Committee.

  • The Grant Committee Chairperson will annually request the total amount of grant funds available from the Diocesan Treasurer. This information will then be shared with the Commission on Ministry Grant Committee.

  • After the application deadline has passed, the Grant Committee will meet to determine awarding the applications. This meeting may be held via email.

  • Award notifications will be made by June 30 of each year to the Chair and Secretary of the Commission on Ministry, as well as the Diocesan Treasurer.

  • The Diocesan Treasurer makes the distribution of all grant awards.

  • It is noted that the Grant Fund is not intended to provide a source of seminary tuition offset for those within or beyond postulancy in the process of ordination.  However, those in either local or seminary-based formation for holy orders may apply for costs related to their education, excluding tuition fees. These applications will be considered for granting in the regular cycle, with preference given to those not in the ordination process.  (Please note, those in formation for ordination receive other monies from the diocese towards their educational costs.)

  • Any monies not granted during the June approval cycle may be applied for during the remainder of the calendar year via the same process as listed above.

  • Please be prepared to report to the committee in six months on how the grant money was used (save all receipts and any other proof of expenditures) and the resulting specific ways that it assisted you in furthering your congregation's ministry (we would love pictures, testimonials, and the like, but they are not required).

All requests must be received by the Missioner for Special Projects, Joe Anand-Obleton, by May 31, 2025. You may:

Social Outreach Grants

Social Outreach Grants are awarded by the Diocesan Social Outreach Committee. Apply for the 2026 Social Outreach Grant Application here.

Through social outreach, we, the Church, live out our mission to represent Christ, to bear witness to him, and to carry on his work of reconciliation in the world (BCP p. 855). By connecting with our communities and meeting our neighbors where they live, we spread the Good news of God’s love to them and even invite them to take part in the same ministries. Our outward focus is essential to the life of the Church.

  • Applicants must state the amount of the request and specify the reason for the request.

  • The application deadline is May 31 of each year.

  • All requests are forwarded by the Grant Committee Chairperson to members of the Grant Committee.

  • The Grant Committee Chairperson will annually request the total amount of grant funds available from the Diocesan Treasurer. This information will then be shared with the Social Outreach Grant Committee.

  • After the application deadline has passed, the Grant Committee will meet to determine awarding the applications. This meeting may be held via email.

  • Award notifications will be made by June 30 of each year.

  • The Diocesan Treasurer makes the distribution of all grant awards.

  • It is noted that the Grant Fund includes monies from both the original Social Outreach Grant and the Good Shepherd Grant. Monies are first dispersed from the original Social Outreach Grant and then from the Good Shepherd Grant as needed and appropriate. The Good Shepherd monies are available to Western Deanery congregations only.

Instructions:

  1. All requests, whether for a parish outreach project or the specific ministry concern of a small group or an individual parishioner, must be approved by the vestry. Include the name and contact information of the senior warden.

  2. You will be informed of the Social Outreach Committee's action via e-mail.

  3. Application due date is May 31st. Monies will be awarded in June.

  4. Please be prepared to report to the committee in six months on how the grant money was used (save all receipts and any other proof of expenditure) and the specific ways that it assisted in your congregation's outreach ministry (we would love pictures and/or testimonials, but they are not required).
