Dove Faith Cafe - Munster

DFC logo transparent background.png

The Dove Faith Café is a storytelling event that brings together storytellers and listeners who share their faith stories in an evening of hope. Storytelling sparks connections between people. It creates a vulnerability that listeners step into compassionately. It allows us to see others as God sees us: as God’s children.

Each Dove Faith Café event includes live music, an emcee, and our storytellers who will invite you to share their journey of some incredible moments in their lives. There will be an intermission with food and drink for sale. Each ticket allows the holder into the event and also entitles them to a drink of their choice.

While this is a faith-based event, we hold no illusions that we all have the same faith, or any faith at all. All are welcome. We are reaching out to all of God’s children to help us each identify God’s fingerprint in our lives and to recognize our similarities. Faith-sharing demonstrates God working in our lives and can rekindle cooling embers of our faiths through the gentle power of the Spirit.

Audience Warning: Dove Faith Cafe presents real stories from real people that might contain sensitive material for some audiences. There are references to substance abuse and sexual abuse. Dove Faith Cafe strongly recommends that children under the age of 18 be accompanied by an adult.

Evangelism Huddle - June 2021

“When we ask ourselves who Jesus might be, we must look in the mirror and at each other. Just as we look for Jesus in others, people are looking for Jesus in us.” - Miriam McKenney

Our June mentors will be the Rev. Canon Anthony Guillén, director of Ethnic Ministries and missioner for Latino/Hispanic Ministries, and the Rev. Samuel Borbon, associate missioner for Latino/Hispanic Ministries and program development. Together we will look at the gifts and challenges of practicing Episcopal evangelism with Latin and Hispanic communities. This is a conversation open to all who are interested.

*Evangelism Huddle is held the third Wednesday of each month.

Embracing Evangelism: Seek, Name, Celebrate

Welcome to Embracing Evangelism, a video series on Episcopal Evangelism from The Episcopal Church and Virginia Theological Seminary. Throughout this adventure, we will explore evangelism as a spiritual practice rooted in joy, gratitude, and holy curiosity; a practice through which we seek and speak of Jesus’ loving presence and invite other people to celebrate God’s life and love for them.

Session Two: Seek, Name, Celebrate
As Episcopalians, we promise in our Baptismal Covenant to "seek and serve Christ in all persons.” That is a bold statement of faith! We say that we will actively listen for God’s presence in others – and we dare to believe God is moving in every person.

Hosted by Jordan Tendelman, St. Alban’s Episcopal Church (Fort Wayne, Ind.)

Embracing Evangelism: Introduction to Evangelism

Throughout this adventure, we will explore evangelism as a spiritual practice rooted in joy, gratitude, and holy curiosity; a practice through which we seek and speak of Jesus’ loving presence and invite other people to celebrate God’s life and love for them.

Session 1: Introduction to Evangelism
In this first session, we introduce the practice of evangelism and explore the importance of growing your own loving relationship with God. We draw on scripture and story in Episcopal Evangelism – the spiritual practice through which we seek, name, and celebrate Jesus’ loving presence in the stories of all people and then invite everyone to more.

Hosted by The Rev. Canon Michelle Walker, Missioner for Administration and Communication/Rector of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church (LaPorte, Ind.)
