If you are yearning for something completely different, the Calumet Episcopal Ministry Partnership (CEMP) may be what you're looking for! We are “one church in six locations” in Northwest Indiana that each retain their individual liturgical and social character while joined in community. Specifically, we are:
• St. Augustine's, Gary
• St. Barnabas in the Dunes, Gary
• St. Christopher's, Crown Point
• St. Paul's, Munster
• St. Stephen's, Hobart
• St. Timothy's, Griffith.
Our ministry settings are urban, suburban, and small-town, and our worship styles run the gamut! Our six faith communities not only share clergy but also collaborate on formation, pastoral care, and outreach. We particularly enjoy shared social activities! Each of our parishes has a rich history and identity, and we appreciate and celebrate this. We are seeking two (2) full-time priests-in-charge to coordinate and collaborate with other part-time and supply clergy in an ongoing process of discovery and re-invention.
The parishes of CEMP are all located in Lake County, Indiana, which is situated along the south shore of Lake Michigan. “The Region” (as it is known by locals) is a mere 30-50 miles from downtown Chicago and is known for tree-lined bedroom communities as well as light and heavy industry. It’s also known for environmental beauty seldom seen so close to industrial development, including Indiana Dunes National Park, one of our nation’s newest national parks. Residents benefit from easy access to all Chicago has to offer for recreation, entertainment, and shopping, yet the overall cost-of-living is fully 10% lower than the US average. Because transportation options abound, many people choose to live in NW Indiana and work in the city. The close-knit communities of Lake County support a widespread parks system, historic attractions, vibrant local events, art galleries, farmers’ markets, and museums that add to the cultural diversity of the region. Excellent schools (both public and private) and universities attract families to the area and help sustain property values.
Intrigued? We heartily invite you to explore who we are and what we have to offer. Successful candidates may be at various stages of ministry experience, though some managerial and collaboration experience is essential. For more information:
